Suhagra: Restore Confidence with Reliable ED Treatment
Suhagra is a prescription medication specifically formulated to address erectile dysfunction (ED) in adult men. Its active ingredient, Sildenafil Citrate, is a well-established phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor that works by increasing blood flow to the penis, facilitating the achievement and maintenance of an erection sufficient for sexual activity. This treatment is intended for use under medical supervision and is not indicated for use by women, children, or men without erectile dysfunction. Clinical efficacy is contingent upon sexual stimulation.
Features
- Active Ingredient: Sildenafil Citrate
- Available Strengths: 25 mg, 50 mg, 100 mg
- Formulation: Film-coated tablets
- Onset of Action: Typically within 30-60 minutes
- Duration of Effect: Up to 4-5 hours
- Manufacturer: CIPLA Ltd., a globally recognized pharmaceutical company
Benefits
- Effectively facilitates the achievement and maintenance of erections when sexually aroused.
- Helps restore sexual confidence and reduce performance-related anxiety.
- Supports spontaneous sexual activity with a sufficient window of effectiveness.
- Contributes to improved relationship satisfaction by addressing a common physiological concern.
- Offers a cost-effective treatment option within its therapeutic class.
- Provides a well-understood safety profile backed by extensive clinical data.
Common use
Suhagra is prescribed for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED), the consistent or recurrent inability to achieve and/or maintain a penile erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance. It is not an aphrodisiac and does not increase sexual desire. Its mechanism is purely physiological, requiring sexual stimulation to be effective. It is used on an as-needed basis and is not a cure for the underlying causes of ED, which can be organic, psychogenic, or mixed in origin.
Dosage and direction
The recommended starting dose for most patients is 50 mg taken approximately one hour before anticipated sexual activity. Based on efficacy and tolerability, the dose may be increased to a maximum recommended dose of 100 mg or decreased to 25 mg. The dosing frequency should not exceed once per 24-hour period. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water; it can be taken with or without food, though a high-fat meal may delay the onset of action. The use of Suhagra is contraindicated with any form of organic nitrate medication.
Precautions
Prior to initiating treatment with Suhagra, a thorough medical evaluation should be conducted to diagnose erectile dysfunction and determine potential underlying causes. Cardiovascular status should be assessed, as sexual activity carries a potential cardiac risk. Use with caution in patients with anatomical deformation of the penis (e.g., angulation, cavernosal fibrosis, or Peyronie’s disease), conditions predisposing to priapism (e.g., sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, leukemia), or a history of non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION). Patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment should use a lower 25 mg dose. This medication offers no protection against sexually transmitted diseases.
Contraindications
Suhagra is absolutely contraindicated in patients who are using any form of organic nitrate or nitric oxide donors (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide mononitrate or dinitrate, amyl nitrite) either regularly or intermittently. Concomitant use can lead to a severe, life-threatening drop in blood pressure. It is also contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to Sildenafil Citrate or any excipients in the tablet. Its use is not recommended in men for whom sexual activity is inadvisable due to underlying cardiovascular pathology.
Possible side effects
Like all medications, Suhagra can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Most are mild to moderate and transient.
- Very Common (β₯1/10): Headache, flushing.
- Common (β₯1/100 to <1/10): Dyspepsia, nasal congestion, dizziness, visual disturbances (e.g., blurred vision, cyanopsia), back pain, myalgia.
- Uncommon (β₯1/1,000 to <1/100): Hypotension, syncope, tachycardia, palpitations, epistaxis, gastritis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, dry mouth, rash, hematuria.
- Rare (β₯1/10,000 to <1/1,000): Priapism (a prolonged and painful erection lasting more than 4 hours), sudden hearing loss, serious cardiovascular events (e.g., myocardial infarction, unstable angina, ventricular arrhythmia), hypersensitivity reactions, seizures. Immediate medical attention is required for symptoms of priapism, sudden hearing loss, or a serious allergic reaction.
Drug interaction
Suhagra can potentiate the hypotensive effect of other antihypertensive agents. Concomitant use with alpha-blockers (e.g., doxazosin, tamsulosin) is not recommended due to the potential for symptomatic hypotension. As stated, co-administration with nitrates is contraindicated. It is metabolized primarily by CYP3A4; therefore, potent inhibitors of this enzyme (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir, erythromycin) can significantly increase Sildenafil plasma levels, necessitating dose adjustment. Inducers of CYP3A4 (e.g., rifampin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, St. John’s Wort) may decrease Sildenafil levels and reduce efficacy. Grapefruit juice may increase plasma concentrations of Sildenafil and should be avoided.
Missed dose
Suhagra is not intended for chronic daily dosing and is taken on an as-needed basis. Therefore, the concept of a “missed dose” does not apply. Do not take an extra tablet to make up for a missed opportunity. Adhere strictly to the once-daily dosing schedule.
Overdose
In cases of overdose exceeding the maximum recommended dose, the expected effects would be an exaggeration of the known dose-related adverse events, including severe headache, profound hypotension, syncope, and prolonged erection. Standard supportive measures should be employed. Hemodialysis is not expected to accelerate clearance as Sildenafil is highly protein-bound and extensively metabolized.
Storage
Store Suhagra tablets below 30Β°C (86Β°F). Keep the blister strips in the outer carton to protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not use after the expiration date printed on the packaging.
